This key section covers the Summer of '69 and the onset of the Troubles. It looks over the escalating tensions which caused mayhem in Northern Ireland over the summer. It analyses why British Troops were sent to Northern Ireland and the effect it had. It also looks at political responses to the crisis and the emergence of the Provisional IRA following a split in the republican movement. We show the growth of loyalism in response and analyse the army reaction to the violence and we ask the question was this responsible for even more violence. Finally we look at Internment; Bloody Sunday and Direct rule.
