In this third and final section of the Northern Ireland course we look at the long and difficult search for a political solution to Northern Ireland's problems. We investigate the Sunningdale Power Sharing agreement and how it was eventually brought down by hard line unionist elements. We also look at the impact of the Hunger Strikes and the effects they had on Northern Ireland. Finally we look at the Anglo Irish agreement of 1985- What was involved and what were its results.

1) SEEKING SOLUTIONS
   Sunningdale Agreement

This section covers events running up to the big political agreement to share power which was agreed in the Sunningdale Agreement

This looks at what was agreed and why it ultimately failed

2) HUNGER STRIKES

This section looks at the issue of political prisoners throughout the 1970's and early 1980's. It looks at what they were demanding and what the British Government response was. It also looks at the various prisoner protests culminating in the ultimate protest - Hunger Strike.

3) ANGLO IRISH AGREEMENT

This final section looks at the political background to the ground breaking Anglo Irish Agreement of 1985. It looks at what the Agreement was and what were the key results of it .
